The Home-Maker by Juliet Kego [Poetry]

Posted in: , ,

My thoughts when I first read this poem by Juliet Kego (pictured above) was this is absolutely beautiful! The Home Maker by Juliet Kego is so touching and yet so strong. The poem, which Juliet calls Floetry, gives a voice to the woman at home toiling to make her home and feeling unsatisfied and underappreciated. The woman in the poem knows when she's had all she can carry, and what she needs to do in order to find herself. Enjoy the poem below...

Gbenga Adeyinka The First On His Marriage of 19 Years, Children, Career And Inspiration

Posted in: , , ,

In his interview with LoveOasis Magazine, a digital magazine, Gbenga Adeyinka talks about  his career, marriage and inspiration. He revealed how he and his wife had to ’run cashless economy’ in his home when he switched from the Corporate world to entertainment.

Read the full interview on www.theloveoasis.com Issue 9. The magazine is accessible, and FREE, on any Smartphone device, mobile Tablets and PCs. A downloadable app will be released in the coming months.

Below are excerpts from the interview:

What’s your philosophy about marriage?

It’s always about family, whatever you do; it must always be about family. Even when you think of misbehaving, always have your family at the back of your mind. Because if you lose everything in the world and you still have your family, there are chances you will find some form of happiness and rebuild. But if you gain everything in the world and lose your family, the chances that you will be able to rebuild may be practically impossible.

Do You Prefer Your pets to Your Partners and Other Family Members?

Posted in: , ,

To celebrate national pet month back in April, the folks over at gonedigging.co.uk decided to take a look at how people celebrate their pets through special occasions and holidays, and the rivalry between pets and partners. And now the results are out!

The numbers they dug up - see the inforgraphic below- confirm that pets are literarily ruling the roost, with the vast majority of owners considering that their pets bona-fide members of the family!

Since no one would think of leaving a member of the family out of a special occasion, it would appear pet owners are pampering their pets with special gifts at Christmas, birthdays, and even on Valentine’s Day! Sometimes more than their spouses and other human members of their family!

So for you, is it a case of me or the dog?

Udo Okonjo is the C.E.O of Fine and Country West Africa, a renowned real estate company, and also the founder of W.O.W. D.I.V.A.S Network, an NGO that works to motivate women. Udo says empowering women is one of the most rewarding things in her life.

There is nothing more empowering than empowering than the thought that in sharing my own experience, solutions would be triggered in those that will be reading this. It is a joy to empower, strengthen and change someone’s previously disempowering perspective or lack of enlightenment about a situation.

Being diagnosed with cancer some 8 years ago  and ending up a few years later with the healthiest, cutest, most heartbreakingly handsome second son is something for which I am thankful to God.

Still is a Book on Christianity, Suicide, Mental Illness and Alcoholism - Eniola Prentice [Guest Author]

Posted in: , ,

Eniola Prentice was born in Lagos Nigeria where she began to pen her stories as early as nine years old, inspired by an eclectic group of writers. Her budding writing career was put in the back burner as she pursued her dream of becoming a medical doctor, completing her undergraduate degree in Chicago, Illinois and her medical degree in Washington, DC.

However in the third year of medical school inspired by the holy spirit or the voices in her head (she would prefer to blame God for this one) and the unique and inspiring stories of friends that became her family in medical school she began to write her debut novel and series, Still. She hopes that her writing compels challenges, inspires people and draws people to the Christian God’s redeeming love. Please read her exclusive interview with RML below...

Book Excerpt - The Break Up Recipe by Munir Bello

Posted in: , ,

Amy Jacobs is the office hottie. A cute little blonde twenty something who is very friendly and quite frankly incredibly bangable. When we started working together the guys at the office took bets to see who could get her into bed. I’d like to state to the jury that I abstained from this exercise as I didn’t quite agree with objectifying a work colleague. Try as he might, Tate did any and everything he could to win this challenge. He would run out and get her lunch or offer to go for drinks with her after work. Nothing ever came of it. What made it even sweeter was that I was always within hearing distance when he got rejected. It meant he could never make up a story about giving her the brush off.

Book Excerpt - When You Let Go By Unoma Nwankwor

Posted in: , , ,

This was working out better than I thought. Amara had been gone for a little over half an hour. She had tried calling Ejike before she left but couldn’t get to him. Chinelo smiled because that meant Ejike had no idea that he’d be coming home to her.

As soon as Amara left the house, Chinelo took a quick shower and put on her blue jean mini skirt and a sheer white blouse. Despite the black tank top underneath, it still had the effect she was going for.
Moments later, she could hear the garage door opening. That must be Ejike. Amara couldn’t have made it back so soon.
